In Munich, mostly companies hand out beer tokens ("Biermarken" in German) to their guests, which can then be exchanged for beer in the respective tents. If you want to buy beer tokens, please contact the tent-owners directly.

We will also have live Polka music, traditional German food, festival friendly competitions (beer stein holding, keg tossing, barrel rolling, MR. & MRS. Oktoberfest and more!) fun prizes, a large outdoor and waterfront beer garden, boat cruises on the river and lots of dirndls and lederhosen!!

Tampa Film: State of the Industry

There has been a lot of progress in the State of Florida in the last few years on bringing the awareness back of the importance of the film industry in our state.
In 2006, Polycreative hosted the first industry roundtable in Tampa, where we discussed not only the importance of adding the Digital Media queue, but also how to bring down the qualifying expenditure down from $300,000 - a lot of small production houses don't see budgets that big, and therefore could never apply to receive any incentives.

This year, we hit a milestone! Not only is the qualifying expenditure down to $100,000, but we're not talking about a $5 million incentive program anymore (which was easily gobbled up by a handful of projects). We're talking about $242 million dollar program!

Effective July 1, 2010:

2010/2011 Florida Film & Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program

Overview:

* $242 million in transferable tax credits over 5 years
* $53.5 million transferable tax credits authorized for the 2010/2011 fiscal year
* 20% - 30% transferable tax credit

- 20% Base Percentage
- 5% Off Season Bonus
- 5% Family Friendly Bonus (G Rated programming)

We are thrilled that this program was passed with no major opposition in either the State Senate or the House of Representatives.

"H" John Mejia from The Good Life Tampa Bay produced this very exciting 6 minute piece from our Inventors Business Center launch with Kevin Harrington recently!! February 26, 2010 marked the official last day for Gayle Guyardo on the morning news with WFLA - 8, but it also marked the incredible beginning of her new show "Access Gayle" !! Access Gayle is being produced in the new IBC studios with Kevin Harrington & Wendy LaTorre, and airs on Tampa Bay ABC / channel 28 Saturday mornings from 9:53 am - 9:58 am and Sunday mornings 8:53 am - 8:58 am .

We want to take a quick second and give a shout out to Lindsey Norris Guthrie, Tampa's Film Commission Manager, who shared this great video with us that the Massachusetts Film Office put together to promote the positive impact feature film projects have within a community. This video shows not only the local business boost communities get from hosting feature films, but also the investment these film projects take in the communities they work within.

We will be working with Lindsey throughout 2010 to continually promote that same message for the film industry here in the Gulf Coast!

Digital Media days at the Capitol

On April 16th & 17th, 2008 - The Florida Capitol was buzzing with legislators and representatives going about their daily tasks. One thing was different, there were TV screens, and digoratti minds reminding them of the vibrant digital life there is in Florida.

Polycreative was asked to represent the Tampa Bay area companies and their progress in recent months. Thanks to the help of many participating companies, Polycreative assembled a demo reel that showed of some of the most creative film and digital arts in our state.

Not only was this great exposure, but we can also say we attributed to helping the state film incentive budget stay at $ 5 Million, rather than getting slashed all together. Yes, it's a major cut from last years $ 20 Million dollar budget, but considering all the other cuts that were made to health care and school services...I want to say were kinda lucky!!

( This scene is at the Cuban Club in Ybor City with patrons in full swing!! )

Here is a glimpse of the opening scene of a new film Polycreative helped produce and is still in process of mastering audio on. The story is based back in the 1930's in Ybor City when the Italian mafia and Cuban cultures were prominent around town, and the Sicilians come and take over Charlie Wall. It's an incredible collection of stories during this time and pulling a timepiece off like this is not easy, but the production crew, wardrobe, hair & make-up teams all were really professional and organized, and production moved along really smoothly!! Actresses moved from bruised and beat-up faces to ready-for-the-date in under an hour, we had dynamic dolley & jib shots, authentic dresses and suits, and incredibly dedicated talent.

Here we are shotting a bar scene with one of our actors 'Mr. Frederiano'. Mr. Frederiano is playing the story of a man who owned much of Ybor City back then and controlled much of the action the city was receiving then, including the old Cuban lottery of 'Bolita'. Diana (leading female) was forced to ask Mr. Frederiano for help when she found out she was pregnant the year previous. In return, she had to work at his brothel to pay off her debt to him. When the bartender, Alex (leading male), falls in love with her and focuses his life on getting her to a safer place... well the story gets more interesting and you'll have to find out what happens when we release it!!

Clearwater Rotary's 14th Annual Kingfish Tournament

Coachman Park - Clearwater, FL

Recently, we were asked by the Clearwater Rotary if we would be interested in volunteering our time to capture footage for their 14th annual Kingfish Tournament in Clearwater...what a wonderful invite - we were excited to contribute our efforts to such a wonderful organization and extend our gratitude to its members for thinking of us!

This year was the first time the event was sanctioned by the Southern Kingfish Association in the rotary's history, and 1st place prize was $10,000 - quite a catch!!!

Here is a look at the very fist fish to weigh in for the day....

The Kingfish Tournament is the Clearwater Rotary's biggest fundraiser event for the year, and all the profits go to international rotary charities; including:

A Gift for Teaching, Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf, Care Flight, Children's Dream Fund, Rotary Club of Clearwater Charities Endowment Fund, Clearwater High School Swim Team, Clothes to Kids, Good Acts, Isaiah's Inn, La Clinica Guadalupana, Ronald McDonald House, Rotary International Foundation, UPARC and the YMCA.

The Indy Racing League started using methanol in their race cars back in 1964. This year in St. Petersbug, FL (the Tampa Bay region) was the first time Indy racers supported their engines with 10% of a very clean fuel called, ethanol. Ethanol is a grain based fuel that is extremely environmentally friendly - and can still kick out enough thrust for these racing rockets to go up to 200 mph! Polycreative was there!!

Some viewers captured their views of Turn 10 - one of the most challenging turns of this course- from the back of their yachts at the St. Petersburg Marina!! The Penske super yacht even threw a VIP party until 3 A.M., the St. Pete Times reported!

Decked out Indy cars screaming through the streets around 200 mph. (Here is a shot from the tip of Progressive Stadium). The weather was gorgeous, not a single disturbance the entire weekend reported by anyone, Gene Simmons was Grand Marshall, fireworks galore, and best yet - the guarantee from Indy that the race will take place again next year on April 1st!!! Go Honda Grand Prix of St. Pete - we can't wait to come back and cover the event next year!!!
